People in Fashion


As the premiere of the blog our first people in fashion that came up into our mind could not be anyone except this talented young renown designer Alexander Mcqueen who had changed the world of fashion into something more creative and innovative. We had experienced his success and his lost, but what he left is greater than ever we’d like to bring you to a great achievement of a great designer not just only us but entire world admire his vision, imagination and innovation that brought to fashion scene to be more fascinating.



Lee Alexander Mcqueen was a British designer, was born in Lewisham, London. He was a youngest of six children; he started making his own dress for his sisters and decided to pursuit his dream as a designer since then. He left school at aged 16 and decided to internship at Savile Row for more fashion background. He returned to London in 1994 and was offered to participate as a student at Central Saint Martin College of Arts in majoring of fashion design. His graduation collection was even more grab attention when one of the most influential fashion stylist Isabella Blow bought its entire collection and persuaded him to be known as Alexander when he first launched his career.



In 1996, LVMH assigned Mcqueen as a head designer at Givenchy after leaving of John Galliano. His coming created a controversy as his first couture collection for the house was unsuccessful even himself exclaimed that the collection was “ Crap” and left the brand in March 2001. In December 2000 a new partner had arrived, Gucci Group, acquiring 51% of its brand and name Alexander Mcqueen as creative Director for his own brand. Mcqueen had been known for his lavish and unconventional runway shows, he developed his reputation for controversy and shock element such as his creation at spring 2003 “ Irere”, imitated ballroom stage at spring 2004 “ Deliverance” , spring 05’s human chess game “ It’s only a game” or fall 2006 “ The Widows of Culloden” featured a hologram supermodel Kate Moss dressed in delicately ripped fabric. His signature in fashion show was to bring drama and extravagance to surprise and shock audiences, also experiment by using technology and innovation blend with sense of fantasy as can be seen in fabric or design that was created on his collection.






Another signature for Mcqueen was skulls that was using in his designs, a skull printed scarf became a celebrity must have item and was copied all around the world. In 2006 Mcqueen introduced a diffusion line called McQ,a lower priced younger collection line for women and men. Mcqueen became the youngest who won the title British Designer of the Year which he won for four times. He also was awarded and named as International Designer of the Year by Council of Fashion Designer. His achievement had shown that he was one of the greatest British designers of all time. Mcqueen passed away on February 11, 2010 an announcement was made stated that his death was a suicide.
